EGM - First shots of Empire: Alpha Complex!

X-Power has got their hands on a scan of Chair Entertainments upcoming XBLA game. The Empire property - which is owned by Chair themselves - in recent years had a book written for it by famed author Orson Scott Card, as well as other projects based around the franchise.

Empire: Alpha Complex will be Chair's next game, and will be available for "all" downloadable platforms. Still using the Unreal engine, E:AC will be a 2D side scrolling game in the style of classic Metroid and Castlevania titles. From the looks of it, maybe a little Bionic Commando Rearmed too.

The entire scan can be viewed below. Personally, I was disappointed with Undertow - Chair's previous game, however this one certainly has a lot of promise just from the screenshots. Keep it up!

Get a kind of 'flashback' vibe from that shot, probably just my wishful thinking though.

Good to see a new 2D platformer being made. They're an endangered species nowadays.

I actually went to their studio with my high school class and they didn't actually make us sign nondisclosure documents, but I haven't found any way to say anything before now. The game is in 3D but it is like New Super Mario Brothers, you start out and have to get your backpack and flashlight. If anyone has read the book, the game is based on the day that the people are carrying out their evil plan to take over or whatever and they kidnap the main character's girlfriend (Main character of the game) on accident so you set out to save her. Please don't quote me I don't want anyone to get in trouble.
